Pistol I: The Foundation of Confidence

Whether you’re holding a firearm for the first time or returning to the basics, Pistol I builds your confidence through the "NRA Gold Standard" of safety. We move beyond simple rules to build professional habits that last a lifetime. You’ll learn the mechanics of how your pistol operates and master the five fundamentals of marksmanship to ensure every shot is safe and intentional.
Core Skills: The 3 Universal Safety Rules and the secrets to a perfect grip and sight picture.
The Anatomy of a Pistol: Learning the parts, nomenclature, and the mechanical operation of both revolvers and semi-automatics.
The 5 Fundamentals of Marksmanship:
• Aiming: Understanding sight alignment and sight picture.
• Breath Control: Minimizing movement during the shot.
• Hold Control: Maintaining a steady, repeatable grip.
• Trigger Control: Smooth, rearward pressure without disturbing the sights.
• Follow-Through: Maintaining position through the recoil.
Ammunition Knowledge: Identifying components, proper storage, and malfunctions (Misfires, Squib loads, and Hangfires).
Eye-Dominance Testing: to ensure you're aiming with your strongest eye.
First Target: For the last portion of the class we will head out on the shooting range and put your newly learned skills to the test in the real world! You will get to see (and take home) your first target showing off your marksmanship!
