CCW Prep 1 Course
Duration: 2 Hours | Format: Private Individual Lesson
This comprehensive, foundational course splits time between classroom theory, dry-fire mechanics, and live-range training to build safe, accurate holster habits.
Part 1: Classroom & Legal Framework
NJ Regulations: Review NJ "safe zones," carry requirements, and legal compliance.
Use of Force: In-depth review of the NJ Civilian Use of Force packet and accompanying instructional video.
Dry-Fire Mechanics: Hands-on practice in the classroom using an unloaded firearm. The focus is strictly on establishing a safe, consistent draw and re-holstering technique before moving to live fire.
Part 2: Range & Live Fire (50 Rounds Total)
Target 1: Fundamentals & Situational Awareness (25 Rounds)
Holster Draws & Grouping (10 Rounds): Fire 5 rounds at 3 yards and 5 rounds at 5 yards to establish precise groupings immediately following the draw.
Scan & Assess (15 Rounds): Conducted at 5 yards. Students practice a defensive cadence (firing 2-round strings) paired with scanning the environment before re-holstering.
Target 2: Malfunctions & Distance Accuracy (25 Rounds)
Stoppage Drills (15 Rounds): The instructor mixes live ammunition with dummy rounds. Students learn to diagnose and clear unexpected malfunctions (failures to fire/extract) in real-time.
Distance Marksmanship (10 Rounds): Conducted at 15 yards to master trigger control, sight alignment, and precision at extended defensive distances.
